| Lexical chunks have played an increasingly important role in the teaching of English writing in senior high school in recent years.Considerable theories and researches have demonstrated that the application of lexical chunks to English writing could improve fluency,accuracy and authenticity to a great extent.However,these problems remain in English writing,such as the lack of the language innovative thinking,insufficient production of lexical chunks and the difficulty in improving students’ writing test scores.Research shows that language innovative thinking and lexical chunks production are two important features of textual metaphor.In view of the above,this paper studies the application of the lexical chunks of textual metaphor to English writing in senior high school that explores a better way to promote the language innovative thinking ability,the number of lexical chunks production and the writing test scores.The purpose of this research is to provide a useful supplement to the English writing teaching methods.This study takes two classes in XX senior high school as the research subjects,and carried a 24-week teaching experiment.The experimental class practice writing with lexical chunks from the perspective of textual metaphor;and the controlled class in a conventional way of lexical chunks teaching method.The main contents are listed in this order: the thesis,based on the literature review of “ the application of lexical chunks to English writing”,presents the theoretical framework of “textual metaphor”,and establishes the inherent compatibility of these two;next,the thesis makes an in-depth analysis based on experimental data collected from the pre-and post-test in the aspects of the language innovative thinking,the number of lexical chunks production and the writing test scores;then,it confirms implications on the better application of lexical chunks of textual metaphor to English writing in and after class in senior high school;ultimately,it indicates limitations on the testing standard of the language innovative thinking.The findings show that the application of lexical chunks of textual metaphor to English writing in senior high school could,to some extent,promote the language innovative thinking and the production of lexical chunks in writing,that would improve the writing test scores.This study is a useful attempt of the researcher in the teaching and practice of English writing in senior high school. |
