Love Transcending Time And Space

Tang Ying is a master in writing urban love stories.Her novels are all about love.It is paradoxical that the study of love story writing in her novels is rare to see in academic field.Therefore,it is necessary and meaningful to explore the love story writing in Tang Ying’s novels.In essence,love is not only the narrative power of Tang Ying’s novels,but also the theme of them.Love is the key word to explore and understand the artistic value and the significance of literary history of Tang Ying’s novels.The thesis is divided into three parts:the introduction,the main body part and the conclusion.The introduction part mainly summarized the present research of Tang Ying’s novels.There is still much gap for academic research on love theme of her novels to specify the significance and the uniqueness of love writing in her novels.This thesis is divided into three chapters.The first chapter summarized the three ways to present love story writing and results of love in the form of tables.It aims to explore Tang Ying’s points of view of love and the aesthetics of love through the results of three types of love that respectively are youth love with pain,extramarital affair,and homosexuality.The second chapter analysed three strategies of love story writing in Tang Ying’s novels--from the perspecti’ve of time,space and body.On the abscissa of time,Tang Ying,on the one hand,broke the order of time,making the story fragmented through the narrative means of "flashback" and fixed-point scenes,tracing back the reasons of the irreversibility and fatalism of the character’s destiny in terms of love;on the other hand,she chose love processed in the key time to write,enhancing the readability of the story and the profundity of the theme.On the vertical axis of space,Tang Ying uses fixed-point space and mobile space as narrative techniques to outline the literary imagination of Shanghai city and foreign space.Tang Ying takes the body on the Space Apposition as the key to tunnel the time and space and then describe two kinds of situation:the "physical carnival" and the”physical suffering"during and after the"Cultural Revolution",presenting the value judgment and choice of urban men and women faced love in the course of post-modern,which reveals the complexity and depth of human nature.The third chapter discussed the core and value of love story writing in Tang Ying’s novels.The tragedy of love is the core and anti-love is the unique literary value.Tang Ying embodies anti-love by focusing on love stories of extramarital love.After experiencing extramarital love,both men and women in her works choose to return to the traditional Chinese ethical family.This shows that Tang Ying opposes the excessively fierce way of life and advocates a moderate and mild way.The conclusion in the end summarized the thesis,figuring out the unique literary value against love as well as some shortcomings in Tang Ying’s novel.
