In recent years,with the rapid development of China's economy and the increasing influence on the world stage,the desire of Western mainstream media such as the BBC to deepen understanding of China as an Eastern power has become stronger and stronger.Especially since the beginning of the 21 st century,the BBC has taken the initiative to focus on China's production of a large number of documentaries based on China.The documentary as a real image has become an important window for the world to understand China.Due to the strong international influence of the BBC documentary,it has largely dominated the international discourse about China.In this paper,discourse is used as a starting point to analyze the documentary about the Chinese story of the BBC.The BBC typical Chinese documentary has been selected as a discourse sample in the new century.It uses text research and literature research to represent a typical representative.The documentary is combed and texted.From Sayed's "Oriental Studies",Foucault's Critical Discourse Theory,and Bakhtin's "Dialogue Theory",objectively and systematically analyze the different discourse patterns and their discourses in the BBC Chinese documentary in describing China.s reason.Through a large amount of collation and research on the BBC documentary,this paper finds that the BBC documentary Chinese discourse exhibits multiple complex discourse patterns that are positive and negative.The author summarizes the three discourse forms of the BBC Chinese documentary from the complicated discourse.That is,dominant discourse,opposite discourse,and balanced discourse.Through the specific analysis of these three discourse forms and analyzing the reasons behind the complex Chinese discourse of the BBC documentary from the two aspects of discourse production subject,discourse context.This article aims to explore the BBC's paradigm for constructing Chinese discourse through its documentary,summarizing the overall grammar of the BBC Chinese documentary,understanding the way the West interprets China's discourse when telling Chinese stories,and at the same time breaking the monopoly of the BBC documentary on Chinese discourse and striving for more.The multi-Chinese voice provides useful inspiration.
