Dramatic theory of Ming and Qing dynasties is an important and the most prosperous part of ancient Chinese dramatic theory. The research on the dramatic theory of Ming and Qing dynasties is very sufficient both in depth and in breadth, but the research from the perspective of hermeneutics has not attracted enough attention. This paper takes the prefaces and postscripts of dramatic theory of Ming and Qing dynasties as the main research object to explore its hermeneutic tendency. In particular, this paper is divided into four chapters. The introduction part gives a brief introduction to the general situation of dramatic theory, the rise of hermeneutics and literary hermeneutics, and the basic ideas of hermeneutics used in this paper.First chapter focuses on the retrospection of the interpretation of the pre-tang drama in the literature such as the annotations to the classics and The Songs of Chu,and discusses that this interpretation is similar to the western hermeneutics starting from the subjective "presupposition".The second chapter explores the hermeneutic tendency of the dramatic theory in Ming and Qing dynasties and its main content is the Confucian tradition of establishing righteousness by classics and paying attention to the custom enlightenment and the inertia of “drama regularized by essays”.The third chapter focuses on the interpretation of drama of Buddhism and China's local immortal and Taoist culture from perspective of "preconception".The concluding part is the summary of the whole text.
