Lin Fengmian is unique in the modern Chinese painting system,and his efforts in interpreting the form of Chinese painting and constructing a connection with aesthetic values have an important impact on the development of Chinese painting art.The theme of the female painting is a common theme in Lin Fengmian's Chinese painting creation.His understanding of the form and aesthetic connotation of traditional Chinese character art is perfectly and clearly displayed in the paintings of this subject,and has become an important clue to grasp and study the status of modern and contemporary traditional Chinese plastic art.Therefore,this paper takes the modeling of the portrait of the female painting as a clue to explore the language and artistic spirit of Lin Fengmian,which will make his efforts and contributions to the integration of Western painting techniques and concepts in Chinese painting in the twentieth century more intuitive and clear.Although there is controversy about Lin Fengmian's practice of transforming Chinese painting with Western painting,it is undeniable that Lin's experimental practice and reform provide a valuable reference for the possibility of Chinese painting and even the development direction of Chinese plastic art,and it will also be judged by history at present and in the future.Some of Lin's views on the development of Chinese painting and his creative practice in this field still have important practical significance for the thinking of today's development of Chinese painting.Chapter One in this paper is the introduction,analyzing the research status,references and research methods.Chapter Two provides an overview of Lin Fengmian's artistic style,which is analyzed from Lin Fengmian's life experience and the current state of art in China in the 20 th century.Lin Fengmian lives in an era with great social changes,and he studied abroad and learned new knowledge.Besides,after returning back,he made gradual exploration and formed his own style.Chapter Three analyzes Lin Fengmian's innovation in his portraits with his own personal characteristics.He absorbed foreign cultures based on traditional Chinese paintings and did not forget to add folk art in his paintings.This chapter analyzes the characteristics of the female paintings from the lines,colors,layout and the decorative aesthetics.Chapter Four analyzes the artistic characteristics of Lin Fengmian's fusion of Chinese and Western art on contemporaryChinese painting and the influence of the author's own creation on composition,material selection and artistic conception in personal creation.This paper analyzes and studies female paintings,so a large number of images are used for analysis and comparisons.This paper compares and analyzes Lin Fengmian,Western Modigliani and Picasso;it compares and analyzes Lin Fengmian's own style changes during different periods;and it also compares and analyzes Lin Fengmian's innovation in painting language compared with tradition.
