Since the end of the nineteenth century,the missionary strategies of the missionaries who came to China have gradually become secular.The number of the economic articles published in the magazine which is related to missionary work in China has increased and the subject has become more diverse,The Chinese Recorder is one of this magazine.George F.Fitch,a missionary of American Presbyterian Mission,was the chief editor of The Chinese Recorder from 1893 to 1913.This article,which takes economic articles published in this period as basic historical data,will carry out a discussion from three aspects,including the missionary's money outlook,self-support and industrial education,and also will discuss the secular economic issues that missionaries are concerned,about.In conclusion,the chief editor George.F.Fitch makes a point of the publication of economic articles,and these articles are closely related to missionary work.This reveals that the purpose of publishing economic articles in The Chinese Recorder is still to spread the religious beliefs of Christianity,and it also shows that George.F.Fitch has a strong sense of missionary work.Furthermore,the magazine also provides information for business expansion indirectly.
