"Bian Zheng Jiao Zhen Chuan Shi Lu" was written in Chinese by a Dominican missionary named Juan Cobo in the Philippines in 1593.It is considered as the first or at least one of the first three books published in the Philippines. At present,we mostly focus on the works of the missionaries who came to China before, and there are few studies on those overseas works.Mr.Fang Hao was the first one who discovered this book at the National Library of Madrid in May 1952.In this book,he saw some notes written by Paul Pelliot which had misjudged the date of the publication of this book for 100 years.Mr.Fang Hao amended the date and declared it was published in the year 1593,after the death of Juan Cobo, not 1693.As a result, this conclusion greatly enhanced the academic value of this book.In May 1588,the Spanish missionary Juan Cobo acrossed the Pacific Ocean and finally arrived in Manila.Cobo wrote this book in Chinese language specially for those overseas Chinese living in the Philippines. This book recorded the conversation between a Chinese scholar and a missionary. It has about 24,000 words and is divided into nine chapters. It is an unfinished work.Later, the author was sent to Japan as a diplomat and was killed by a shipwreck. The first three chapters of this book focus on philosophical speculation and theology, and the last six chapters explain theology through scientific knowledge such as nature, geography, astronomy, flora and fauna.I will select this book as the research object, and briefly introduce the author and the background of the book.I will also introduce its layout, printing method, publishing time, grave and so on.So the reader can have a general impression on the whole picture. Then,I will go deep into the text and introduce the contents of the nine chapters of the book.I will focus on the classic citations and new vocabulary in the book, compare this book with "Introduction del Simbolo de la Fe" and analyze the relationship between the two works.
