The call for “taking Chinese culture to the global stage” has become a mainstream since China has carried out the reform and opening up policy.The translation demand for museums' exhibition commentaries has also emerged,which serve as an important way to display museums' collections and are of great significance to foreign visitors.The translation quality of commentaries directly influences the effect of international cultural communication.First of all,this thesis introduces this exhibition commentaries' research background and characteristics,as well as the author's relevant translation preparation.Meanwhile,based on the acculturation strategy,the thesis combines acculturation applications in Matteo Ricci's translation practice and its impacts on commentaries translation in terms of professional knowledge.Then the three principles guiding Chinese-English publicity translation(i.e.being closer to the reality of China's development;being closer to foreign target audience's demands for China's information;being closer to thinking habits of foreign target audience)and its implications for translating Shouxian Museum's materials in aspects of thinking and languages are explained respectively,given the current times background and the acculturation strategy.The body part specifically discusses three aspects from the perspective of a translator,namely,supplementing professional knowledge,respecting thinking habits and making language content more practical as a way to meet reading needs and requirements of target visitors.The conclusion summarizes the author's opinions of the material,the theoretical exploration and the translation process,as well as her disadvantages in translation.The author believes that directed by the acculturation strategy and three principles guiding Chinese-English publicity translation,the translator should be committed to essences of “acculturation” and “closeness”,and adjust to target visitors' language habits,the way of thinking and recognition systems.That is how we can bring about a smooth international cultural communication activity.
