Song painting is the peak of Chinese painting history.In the southern song dynasty,the painting style gradually evolved into the local composition style of "a corner of a horse and a half of a summer" from the painting style of "natural style","rational method" and "re-expression of spirit" to the painting style of "a corner of a horse and a half of a summer".The formation of this style is directly related to its special historical background.After the southern song dynasty,the prosperous surface was on the verge of collapse.The value orientation of the literati in the song dynasty changed from the flourishing tang dynasty,when the country was in peace and the world was in peace,to the promotion of moral and spiritual self-cultivation.Subjective moral consciousness was the main concern of scholar-officials in song dynasty.However,when they descended to the true religion,they fell into the abyss of extravagance,extravagance,and elaborate rituals.The scholar-bureaucrat meditative style prevailed.Quiet natural,indifferent suitable for the scholar-bureaucrat class praise highly.It is in this specific cultural background that the earliest zen painters with freehand concept in China,represented by mu xi,liang kai and shi ke,came into being.Among them,mu xi's paintings are much richer than those of other zen painters in terms of both the quantity and the subject matter.Due to the unprecedented prosperity of industry and commerce in the southern song dynasty,foreign trade was also very frequent.Japanese monks entered the song dynasty by merchant ships to visit buddhist shrines and support buddhist relics.It also plays an important role in the cultural exchanges between China and Japan.It was under this background that muchi's paintings were introduced into Japan.Mu xi had a profound influence on the development of Japanese ink painting and was honored as "the great benefactor of Japanese painting" in Japan.However,the mainstream painting groups in the southern song dynasty did not appraisemuxi's works properly.In the yuan dynasty,the zen painting of mu xi,a strong freehand concept,is a "vulgar without ancient method" theory.In the mid-ming dynasty,the concept of freehand brushwork in mu xi's zen paintings began to be paid attention to,absorbed and recognized,and gradually emerged the representative freehand painters such as shen zhou,Chen chun and xu wei.After the qing dynasty,freehand style prevailed and began to occupy the mainstream.To lineage of Ming dynasty and form to be left alone style such as: after the eight mountain man,over,KunCan,yangzhou eight eccentrics.It can be said that the concept of freehand brushwork in muxi painting has a great influence on literati painting.This paper explores the influence of freehand brushwork in mu xi's zen paintings on later literati paintings.This paper analyzes the relationship between the works or works of representative painters and critics in each era since the southern song dynasty and mu xi,and summarizes the reasons why China and Japan adopted different cultural attitudes towards mu xi.Return to the artistic value of muxi painting and objectively evaluate the contribution of freehand brushwork in muxi painting in the history of Chinese painting.
