This Topic is about Yang Shi's Poetics.Yang Shi was a famous neo-confucianist during the southern song and the northern song dynasty.He learned from Ercheng,and he stood at a critical time in the history of neo-confucianism,when Yang Shi inheritded thoughts from Luo-school to open the Tao-nan school.For this reason,he was called a great and orthodox man.Throughout his life,it was the Ercheng's will that was taught and learned strictly by him.But his attitudes about poetry and writing differed from those of his teachers.In comparison,Yang shi's poetics thought were more acceptable,and he didn't just think that the writing was an obstacle to Dao.Yang shi created a large number of poems and essays in his lifetime.Taking the Imperial Collection of Four as an example,he wrote about 200,000 words in various styles and more than 200 poems.There are quite a few classical literary thoughts and aesthetic theories,either based on the Ercheng's or followed the prevailing trends.Like other neo-confucianists,he also taked the Tao as his own responsibility,studied the natural principles thoroughly,and paid attention to the inner cultivation of human beings and the practice of morality.His neo-confucianism can be summarized as follows:Li and Qi;Theory of mind;Accomplishment.Yang when the impact of neo-confucianism thought of his poetics thoughts mainly in moral and articles to the person one method of evaluate,contemplation of aesthetic and form three aspects,such as a poet.Yang Shi believed that the appreciation of poetry needs to be experienced by means of "imagination" and "self-restraint",which is a great enrichment of the theory of imagination in ancient China.His "imagination" theory and "self-restraint" theory are influenced by the prevailing wind,especially the experience thinking of Buddhism and Taoism.Secondly,he thought that the composition should pay attention to the gentle and honest qi play,especially for the gentleman,at the same time to pay attention not to make the violent and slow qi set in the body,so as to make the poetry shows the gentle and honest qi.Thirdly,Yang shi advocated tao yuanming's plain poetic style and the sage's appearance in poetic style.Finally,Yang shi believes that from the main body,the poet should be uncorrupted.
