"Ghostliness", A Link Between "Fiction" And "Reality"

Considering the situation of Chinese contemporary fiction,Su Tong can be regarded as a prolific writer.Also,existing countless comments on Su Tong's literary writing,have been a definite proof that his creation deserves discussion in the academic world.But even so,it is still weak in the research about Ghost Narrative in Su Tong's novels when Phantom Imagination is gradually concerned today.Thus,exploring Ghost Narrative in Su Tong's Novels is meaningful.The exploration means actually a kind of summation of Su Tong's novels based on absorbing the previous research and considering inherent characteristics of Su Tong's creation,that these works have "ghostliness"."Ghostliness",the product refined and derived from the word"ghost",shows all ghosts'f eatures.It not just expresses"dead soul" and "supernatural",but contacts with many terrorist factors,such as"violence","bloodshed" and "death",thereby expanding the connotation of "ghost" in novels and making "ghostliness" the writing core of Ghost Narrative,no longer "ghost"("dead soul").Many scholars' researches on Ghost Narrative have involved this change(although it hasn't been explicitly stated),because Ghost Narrative they have discussed doesn't only refer to writing "supernatural"in fact,but contains somewhat modern absurd color at the same time.Specifically to say,by the dehumanized figures,mysterious plots,gloomy atmosphere and other unusual text elements,it reveals cruel truth of human nature and history.In this narrative context,"ghostliness" not merely forms text structure in aesthetic aspect,and extends meaning space,but also set the thinking logic and imagination extent of Ghost Narrative.Accordingly,as a link between "fiction" and "reality",it makes Su Tong's novels both show some textual features,namely abnormalism,mystique,absurdity and horror,and complete the narrative purpose of exposing life suffering,human ugliness and historical nothingness even more.Besides,"narrative",a link between "fiction" and "reality" as well,can present the ideographic narrative logic in Su Tong's novels.However,when Su Tong tries to narrate and express something on the basis of "ghostliness",his creation has produced strangely various paradoxes which are difficult to solve.That is,on the one hand,those elements with "ghostliness" decrease the truthfulness of text what they reveal to some extent.And Su Tong himself has been plunged into a whirlpool of showing "ugliness" in the experience of "ignorance" and "despair".On the other hand,the strong imagination which this narrative possesses has to be suppressed because of Su Tong's experience growth and need for writing transformation,although it fits in extremely the writer's fantasy talent and cognitive structure.These paradoxes indicate that Su Tong has encountered profound internal predicament and huge creative anxiety in literary writing.
