At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,under the impact of Western culture,Confucianism showed a declining trend.The reason lies not only in the strength of Western culture,but also in the weakness of Confucianism itself.This huge cultural gap has led to a"crisis of meaning".The perplexity of Xiong Shill’s life is the reflection of the problems thrown out by the times on his life,which together determine Xiong Shili’s pursuit of ontology.He tried to break through the dilemma of the times by integrating Chinese and Western culture through the reconstruction of ontology.He believed that Confucianism was the only one can shoulder this important task in Eastern philosophy.Confucianism,especially the mind philosophy,could get the essence of Confucius and Mencius,so he chose to reconstruct ontology from the way of mind."Where Yi lies is the thing"attributes the thing to consciousness and has the suspicion of denying the existence of the thing,which makes the traditional psychology show the tendency of anti-kno"wledge.Xiong Shili turned to"Ben-Xin"as absolute noumenon and acknowledged that boundaries opened up the possibility of epistemology.He believed that although he had a deep grasp of the substance,the use of"instant use of the substance"was insufficient.In view of the 1 disadvantage of the mind philosophy in discussing the use of substance and substance,he put forward the idea of"using substance and substance in two ways’"in order to seek the possibility of assimilating Chinese and Western cultures.There are two aspects in the expansion of substance function:lifting the substance to be useful and displaying the substance.In the process of developing the Iavo orientations,the interaction between the”Ben-Xin"and the substance function represents the dual connotation of the Ben-Xin:the whole substance expresses the connotation of the Ben-Xin as the absolute noumenon with the function of being useful;that is,the explicit substance expresses the connotation of the Gongfu theory of the origin of the Ben-Xin as the noumenon.As an absolute noumenon manifested as all phenomena of mind and matter,the"Ben-Xin’can satisfy all the definitions of noumenon.Nevertheless,even if the mind does not have the meaning of"consciousness",it still does not hinder it from becoming an entity.Xiong Shili used Buddhist resources,especially ideological studies,to demonstrate the proposition that"the mind is the substance",in which the jumping point was to integrate the situation with knoxwledge and the substance with two functions.The final result was the circular demonstration of"the mind is the substance"and"the substance is the two".He constructed the ontology of the universe by means of the two concepts of Yipi’s birth and death,and the changes of Yipi’s birth and death were enough to manifest itself as universal phenomena.Xiong Shili will call PI an entity,which has the same virtue as absolute noumenon.In the process of human substance testimony,the testimony is not absolute noumenon,and absolute noumenon is not present in the manifestation of various phenomena of mind and matter.In this sense,ontology can only be regarded as the suspension of ontological cosmology construction,and its meaning is the same as Kant’s"thing-in-itself".Xiong Shili takes natural intelligence and quantitative intelligence as epistemological categories.Intelligence has the dual effect of seeking truth from the outside and imtellectualizing the poor gods.External reasoning is a category of epistemology,but it will block the heart,and is obviously the object to be covered.Intellectualization of the poor God is a matter of time,xwhile natural intelligence as an awakening of the ontology is a conscience of time.In this sense,natural intelligence and quantitative intelligence belong to the category of Gongfu theory.Natural intelligence is the "conscious"of the "Ben-Xin",so the meaning of"conscious’"of the Ben-Xin represents the connotation of the theory of time of the Ben-Xin.The attribution of natural intelligence and quantitative intelligence to the category of Gongfu theory means that Xionig Shili’s attempt to incorporate knowledge theory into ontology has finally been shattered,and he has not escaped from the strange circle that knowledge can not be derived from mental ontology.This is actually the contradiction between the ontology of mind and the theory of knowledge itself.Starting from the ontology of mind,we can not go to the ontology of knowledge,nor can we go to the ontology of mind from the ontology of knowledge.Only by transcending the level of ontology and epistemology and from a detached perspective can we seek the possibility of their integration.
