A variety of metaphors are applied widely in our daily life.Since cognitive linguistics has become a new perspective in the language research in recent years, more scholars have introduced cognitive linguistics into the study of metaphor.A large number of political metaphors are used by politicians in political texts to express real political purposes, thus affecting the perception of voters.Based on Newmark's communicative translation theory, this translation practice pays more attention to the transmission of the original information and the reader's reaction. The translation method of conceptual metaphors applied in The Plot to Destroy Democracy refers to the Conceptual Metaphors Theory put forward by Lakoff and Johnson. And war metaphors, journey metaphors, human metaphors, entity and substance metaphors, personifications are frequently found in this text.According to the Cognitive Translation Hypothesis,it can be seen that the translation of political metaphors can be divided into two categories: the similar mapping condition will be met if the cognitive domain which fits in both target language and source language, otherwise, the different mapping condition will be met.The literal translation method is suitable for similar mapping conditions. And the translation methods of free translation, adaptation, omission and conversion are suitable for different mapping conditions.
