| Death,as a natural fate or end of life,is a reality that human beings cannot avoid, escape, and surmount.Philosophically speaking, death is the loss of all existence(survival)attributes of the system of life(or problems of things)that are inherently irreversible and permanent. The reality that we must face is an unexplainable problem for primitive humans.Gradually, people naturally begin to fear the unknown, and believe that death is only a transition and transformation of this world to another world,so the grand transition ceremony for the dead becomes the most important event in people’s social life. The so-called treating dead people is the same as before. In the long history,a unique funeral culture has gradually formed and spread so far. This funeral culture, which consists of a set of rituals, artifacts, taboo and traditional habits that interact with each other, has far-reaching influence and irreplaceable functional significance for society and individuals. This article takes the funeral ceremony of X village in ShanXi Province as an example, adopts the humanism methodology, and uses ritual theory and functional theory to analyze the connotation and function of rural funeral ceremonies. The full text is divided into seven parts. The first part mainly describes the origin, research problems and research significance of this study. The second part mainly reviews literature and related theories of domestic and foreign funeral rituals, and sorts out and analyzes related research. The third part mainly focuses on research ideas and research. Methods, research ideas: Through asking questions, collecting and analyzing literature materials, designing interview outlines, formulating research plans, conducting field surveys, collating fieldwork notes, and finally arriving at conclusions. The research methods mainly include qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews, observations, and literature research methods. The fourth part mainly explains the selection ofsurvey sites and the survey description of survey sites X village;the fifth part is mainly about X villages in ShanXi Province. The detailed description of the funeral ceremony;the sixth part uses the ritual theory and functional theory to analyze the funeral ceremony of X village in ShanXi Province;the seventh part mainly considers the problem of long funerals and the reflection of the funeral culture.Through investigation and in-depth analysis,I believe that although the funeral ceremony continues to change and develop, due to the development of the market economy,a large number of rural population has entered the city and the rural population has decreased, making the funeral ceremony and its cultural connotation from simple to simple, from simple to no;At the same time, the influence of traditional Confucian ethical concepts and the concept of ghosts and gods worship,as well as the abnormal psychology of blindfolding, led to a long-running blind comparison of formalism and thick burial.Obstructing the pace of rural modernization, the connotation and function of the funeral ceremony may disappear. However, this complete set of funeral ceremonies in the funeral culture has been inherited, changed and preserved so far, which is enough to explain its existence and functionality, especially in rural areas.Still can play a very important role in emotional comfort, social integration, cultural education and filial piety. Therefore, the funeral culture in rural areas still has strong vitality, and funeral rituals will continue to exist. |
