The Linfen region is in the transitional zone of Xi'an and Luoyang Buddhist cultural exchanges. The Buddhist culture is prosperous and there are rich Buddhist monasteries, pagodas, statues, and inscriptions. So Buddhism continued to be inherited and developed in Linfen region,it played an important role in Buddhism in Shanxi and even Buddhism in the whole country. The Buddhist policies of the Qing ruler's protection and restriction of Buddhism were embodied in the activities of worship of Buddhism, the eunuchment system and the system of embarrassment of the emperors in the Qing Dynasty. Therefore, the development of Buddhism in the Qing Dynasty was closely related to Buddhism policies, and The national trend of the Qing Dynasty and the development of society are synchronized, and the development of Buddhism in the Linfen region during the Qing Dynasty is also the case.Under the influence of the superior natural and cultural environment, the Buddhist temples of Qing Dynasty in Linfen region were rebuilt in the Qing Emperor Kangxi,Yongzheng and Qianlong periods. There were few new constructions. The temples and monks are mostly located in Huozhou,Hongtong,Linfen,Xiangling and Quwo counties along the Fenhe River, with convenient transportation,a large population, economic development, and a quiet environment. The Buddhist sects of the Linfen region in the Qing Dynasty mainly consisted of Rinzai and Cao Dongzong. The main activities of the monks included repairing temples, shaping Buddha statues, preaching and arranging Buddhist scriptures, giving tea to blessings, and building dikes and bridges. The activities of Buddhism in various sections of society in the Linfen region, including emperors, gentry, and the public in the Qing Dynasty, promoted the development of Buddhism. The monastery economy situation of Qing Dynasty in the Linfen region was closely related to the source of temple assets and the disputes between the production of temples and temples, and directly affected whether the temples can be maintained in the long term. Therefore, based on the development of Buddhism in the Linfen region during Qing Dynasty,Buddhism in the region also exhibited some notable features. That is,the secularization of the three religions was basically stereotyped, and the Buddhistbeliefs were widely rooted in the folk, and it was represented by the goddess of mercy and hell. The special folk activities of the temple festival flourished, and the activities of “offering drama to reward god” are both sacred and entertaining. In addition to these characteristics,Buddhism has also played a role in social moral education and “revelry” entertainment.
