| This thesis is a translation report.The source text is written by a great monk,Thich Nhat Hanh,titled No mud,No Lotus—the Art of Transforming Suffering(excerpts).The original text is full of Buddhist thought.It tells people to recognize suffering by introducing what is suffering,which only they do can they reduce and transform suffering.The author`s own translation is the sample of the report.Three standards for translation proposed by Lin Yutang is the guide.The report mainly introduces problems the author encountered when translating such materials and provides corresponding solutions.This report is divided into four chapters,including general introduction of the translation project,preparation before translation,difficult points to translation and solutions in this project as well as summary.In the first chapter,the author states the aims,significance and structure of the project.In the second chapter,the author mentions preparations for this project,and the source text and its author are analyzed,the guiding translation theory(three standards proposed by Lin Yutang)are introduced in this chapter.The third chapter is the main part of the report,the author starts to state the difficult points in respective aspects of vocabulary and sentences and their solutions which are analyzed combining translation methods and theory used in specific examples.And in the last chapter,the author gives a summary to this project,including gains and reflection after the project,and deficiencies of the report. |
