With the development of globalization,international cultural exchanges are becoming increasingly close.As a symbol of culture,architecture is an important carrier of communication in culture exchanges.It is becoming more and more necessary to develop the cross-cultural communication of architecture under the globalization of the economy.However,there are problems such as uneven development of the domestic campus landscape architecture,low overall design level,lack of advanced design concept guidance,and still have long way to go to catch up with developed countries.In order to maximize the function as the educational carrier of the campus landscape,the international advanced campus landscape design concept and the excellent classic cases must be learned.Meanwhile,it calls for higher requirements for the campus landscape translation.This translation project is chosen from the book Future Schools which introduces the history of campus landscapes and the development after World War II.This report can be regarded as a guidance of the campus landscapes in our country.George Steiner’s hermeneutic translation theory is significant,requiring translators to master the four steps of trust,aggressive,incorporation and restitution to make high-quality translations.Translation should be played a role in the way that the recipient of the translation is most expected.Based on Steiner’s hermeneutic translation theory,combined with the characteristics of architectural English,the architectural terminology,proper nouns,nominalized structures,abbreviations and other translation processes are analyzed in this report.Then,how to give full play to the translator’s subjectivity is also presented in this report.The cases portray the translation methods and strategies,combine the translation theory with certain cases,and conduct in-depth and objective practical analysis of the translation of architectural texts.It is firmly believed in this report that Steiner’s hermeneutic translation theory can not only be a guide on literary translation,but also on technological texts-an important branch of science text under the premise of giving full play to the translator’s subjectivity.It has irreplaceable reference value on the aspects of the technical operation,cultural adaptability and audience wideness of architectural text-like translations.It is hoped that this report would be a reference and promote the translation of architectural texts in the future.
