A Study On The Machine Translation System ELUNa And Its Application In Un Document Translation

Nowadays,machine translation is a trending topic and is widely applied in many translation fields,including UN document translation.This thesis seeks to study the positive impacts and limitations of the machine translation function of eLUNa system in UN document translation.Since the machine translation function of eLUNa system is based on authoritative,classified termbases and corpus,this thesis summarizes and analyzes its positive impacts through a series of cases in four aspects,including terminology accuracy,wording and sentence consistency,language style uniformity and less burden on translators.In addition,this thesis summarizes and analyzes its limitations in two aspects,including logical issues and wording and sentence problems,and proposes two corresponding solutions to make the machine translation function serve translators better.The thesis offers new ideas for how to apply the machine translation function to practice better.It serves as a reference for institutions and companies in need of building their own termbases,corpus and machine translation systems,and a reference for the development and application of machine translation systems in China.
