Vocabulary teaching is the basic and important part in high school English teaching.The teaching methods chosen by teachers determine the quality of vocabulary teaching in a certain extent.For a long time,English teachers always conduct vocabulary teaching mechanically,and they ask their students to memorize the vocabulary rigidly,whereas,the result is unsatisfactory.The Regular Senior High English Course Standard(Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press,2017)issued in 2018 puts forward new requirements for English teaching.According to the spirit of the course standard,teachers should change the traditional vocabulary teaching method and use the methods more innovative.Taking the elements into consideration,the author establishes the research finally.In this paper,quantitative research is adopted,including questionnaire and experimentation.In order to get a better understanding about the situation of English vocabulary teaching in high school and teachers? mastery of conceptual metaphor theory,the author sends questionnaires to English teachers in two high schools.In experimental research,the author carries out four experiments in the two internship classes during the internship period so as to verify the feasibility of vocabulary teaching methods from the perspective of conceptual metaphor.In the experiment,the author applies the vocabulary teaching methods from the perspective of conceptual metaphor in the experimental class,while the author continues using the traditional teaching method in the controlled class.According to the experimental data,the author confirms the hypotheses proposed before the experiment after four months? experimental research.The research mainly indicates the following aspects.Firstly,in high school English teaching,the application of vocabulary teaching methods from the perspective of conceptual metaphor is feasible,which helps improve the quality of vocabulary teaching;Secondly,it contributes to students? understanding and memorizing of the vocabulary,aiming to applying the vocabulary accurately;Thirdly,it plays a positive role in cultivating and improving students' key competencies.The innovation of this research lies in making a combination of the conceptual metaphor theory with vocabulary teaching methods,which fills the gap in the application of conceptual metaphor theory in English vocabulary teaching methods and strategies,thus it sets a good example of integrating theory with practice.Through theoretical and experimental research,the author also proposes the principles and implementations of vocabulary teaching methods from the perspective of conceptual metaphor,looking forward to providing references for teachers when necessary.
