A Translation Report On Political News Of CNN From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

As a new era of information internationalization,news reports are no longer confined to the domestic field.More and more scholars focused on the international news,so the translation of English news is particularly important.Owing to its timely,comprehensive and serious reporting,CNN is hailed as the world's most advanced news organizations.The translator chooses the political news in CNN Regions and US Politics to explore the translation of English political news from the perspective of Translation Variation Theory.None of the 14 news selected by the translator was published on domestic websites.The translator hopes that it can help normal Chinese readers to understand international issues and China's image from the perspective of foreign media.When translating the source texts,the translator finds that the translation of political news needs to take cultural differences,political system and national conditions into account.From the perspective of Translation Variation Theory,translators are required to adapt and construct the source texts according to the special needs of readers,which is suitable for the features of political news.The translation practice consists of six parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the research reasons,backgrounds and features of the source texts.The second part centers on the procedures of translation,including preparation before translation,translation process and correction after translation.The third part is a literature review,which mainly explains studies on news translation made by scholars both at home and abroad.The next part includes the development of Translation Variation Theory and gives an introduction about the theory.The fifth part is a case analysis.The translator illustrates the application of the seven strategies,amplification,deletion,edition,summarization,condensation,combination and rewriting to political news translation.Such as the amplification for people's title,the edition for loose sentences,combination for similar discourses and so on.The last part includes a summary and limitations of this report.
