Transformational teaching,based on the theory of transformational leadership,intentional transformation theory,social cognitive theory and transformative learning theory,is a new type of teaching mode.It absorbs the essence of contemporary mainstream of classroom teaching methods.The model emphasizes the combination of the course content and personal experience,paying attention to students’ emotions,attitudes and beliefs.Through students’ autonomous learning and inquiry,students collaboratively complete the task and solve the problem,prompting students to maximize the development of knowledge,skills,and emotion.New Curriculum Standards of primary School English Compulsory Education proposed that modern foreign language education should focus on the process of language learning and emphasize the practicality of language learning,claiming that students should experience and understand the language in the context.Obviously,transformational teaching mode matches the philosophy of English teaching.However,there is a few research of the pattern in the primary English.Therefore,according to characteristics of students physical and mental development,teachers should change traditional teaching ideas and adopt new teaching mode.In this paper,the paper analyzes the effects of the transformational model in the primary school English teaching through the literature research method,experimental method,the questionnaire survey and interview method : whether it can stimulate students’ interest in learning English,improve students’ English learning level and improve students’ self-efficacy in English learning.Based on the theory of transformational teaching,the new requirements of English new curriculum reform and the problems existing in the primary school English teaching in China,the article analyzes the necessity of the model applied to the primary school English teaching in China.The Wuhan optical valley first primary school was selected as the experiment site.I chose two parallel classes of grade four as the experimental object.Each class has 54 classmates.The experimental time went through a semester from September 2017 to January 2018.Finally I analyzed the test results through SPSS software to investigate whether the transformational teaching mode can improve the students’ English learning.According to the characteristics of the primary English discipline,paper constructs the specific operational procedures of transformational teaching in primary English teaching and applies the model into reality.According to the characteristics of the primary school English subject,I constructed the concrete operation process of the transformational teaching mode applied in primary English teaching nearly one semester,forming a large number of specific teaching mode of English teaching cases.This paper selected the lesson of Dinner ’s ready as a typical case for analysis.At the same time,this study used questionnaire to explore whether the transformational teaching mode can improve students’ self-efficacy.108 students were selected as the investigation object from the two classes.A total of 108 questionnaires were issued and all of it were recovered.Finally,I understand the teachers’ thoughts of the transformational teaching pattern,the teachers’ opinions of implementing the transformational teaching pattern and the application of transformational teaching mode in the primary school English classroom teaching.The paper summarizes the advantages of the model as following :Transformational teaching can stimulate students’ interest in English learning,improve the level of students’ English learning and can improve students’ self-efficacy in English learning.At the same time,it points out some problems of this model in the teaching,analyzes the factors influencing the effects of transformational teaching model in primary school English classroom teaching and puts forward the corresponding implementation strategies,hoping to provide the reference for effective promotion of the transformational teaching in the primary English teaching.
