Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed in 2013,it has gained great attention from all over the world and becomes one of the most heated topics in the world today.Foreign major think tanks also paid much attention to it and published numerous comment articles. The book On One Belt One Road by Worldwide Major Think Tanks is a collection of Chinese translations(the target text)of nearly two hundred foreign comment articles which are written by foreign major think tanks, about the B&R Initiative. This thesis conducts a translation study on political discourse of the B&R Initiative from the perspective of CDA.It attempts to answer the following three questions: i)What are the main features of the translation text? ii)What influences the translation text? Among these factors, how does ideology influence the process of translation? iii)What translation techniques adopted in this work are worth considering and learning from the perspective of CDA?Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA)emphasizes the critical analysis on the discourse, especially the public discourse. It aims at revealing the hidden ideology and power relationship in the discourse.Based on Fairclough's three-dimensional model, with Halliday's Systemic Functional Grammar as the analytical tool, this thesis attempts to analyze the translation in the book On One Belt One Road by Worldwide Major Think Tanks from three stages: description, interpretation and explanation. In description and interpretation stage, lexical classification, transitivity, transformation and textual analysis will be involved. And in explanation stage, social cultural background will be discussed. The findings indicate that there are significant differences in the Chinese translation compared with the original text.Through the comparative analysis of these differences,it can be stated that by choosing different words, changing syntactic structures and adding or deleting, the ideology influences the process of translation. Therefore,it inspires the translators to handle ideological factors from a critical perspective when there exists biased or misguided opinions in the political discourse, first to conduct a critical reading and then to select appropriate translation techniques.
