| [Objective] To explore the relationship between Hypnotizability with hypnotic effect and personality characteristics.[Methods] PartⅠ,to explore the relationship between hypnotizability and hypnotic effect, both 16 subjects with high hypnotizability and 5 subject with low hypnotizability in right-handedness were tested in this study, whose data were collected and analyzed further.Measuring the relative concentration of oxygenated hemoglobin(HbO),deoxy hemoglobin(HbR)and total hemoglobin(HbT)in the frontal lobe of the brain, and comparing the experience of consciousness definition, attention span, will and somatosensory with the Subjective Experience Questionnaire.PartⅡ,to explore the relationship between hypnotizability and personality characteristics,114 healthy college students were tested by The Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility,Form A(HGSHS:A)and Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory Brief Version(CBF-PI-B),whose data were collected and analyzed lately.Comparing both gender and hypnosis related experience’ effect on hypnotizability, and observing correlation between hypnotizability and personality characteristics, and regression analysis of gender, hypnosis related experience, hypnotizability and personality characteristics.[Results] PartⅠ,1.The results of comparing of relative concentration of hemoglobin with different hypnotizability showed that there were no significant differences with relative concentration of the three kinds of hemoglobin between groups, whether in the quiet state or in the hypnotic state.2.The results of comparing of subjective experiences with different hypnotizability showed that there were significant main effects in the other three dimensions and total scores except somatosensory(consciousness definition,F=5.051,p<0.05;attention span,F=10.342,p<0.01;will,F=7.643,p<0.05;total scores,F= 14.812,p<0.001).And the high hypnotizability scored higher than the low hypnotizability.3.The results of comparing of oxygen hemoglobin with different states(quiet sate vs hypnotic state)showed that the relative concentration of oxygen hemoglobin in the hypnotic state was significantly higher than that in the quiet state in the left dorsolateral prefrontal lobe, and the curves of relative concentration change also showed this change.4.The results of comparing of subjective experiences with different states(quiet sate vs hypnotic state)showed that every dimensions’ and total scores of the Subjective Experience Questionnaire had significant main effect(total scores,F=23.752,p<0.001;consciousness definition,F=16.206,p<0.001;attention span,F=6.081,p<0.01;will,F=16.515,p<0.001;somatosensory,F=12.045,p<0.01).And the hypnotic state had higher scores than those in the quiet state. There was significant interaction effect between hypnotizability and state with somatosensory(F=5.87,p<0.05).Subjects with high hypnotizability had higher somatosensory score than those with low hypnotizability only in hypnotic state. The somatosensory scored only with high hypnotizability subjects were significantly increased after hypnosis.PartⅡ,1.The results of comparing both gender and hypnosis related experience’ effect on hypnotizability indicated that there were no significant gender differences between different hypnotizability, and there was no significant difference between the subjects who " whether they had read the hypnotized novel" or "whether they knew the hypnotized people" neither. However subjects "who were hypnotized before"(6.000±1.803)reported a deeper hypnotic depth(t=2.334,p<0.05)than those who did not so(5.049±2.037).2.The results of correlation between hypnotizability and personality characteristics showed that there were respectively significant positive correlations between agreeableness and total scores(r=0.199,p<0.05),"head down"(r=0.204,p<0.05),"right head stuck"(r=0.315,p<0.01)of HGSHS:A’s Subjective Impression Part, the total scores of Other subjective Experiences(r=0.196,p<0.05)and "I look like staying at a stable level of hypnosis throughout the process"(r=0.219,p<0.05).Agreeableness had positive prediction of the "head down" behavior in Objective Response Part, which was only found in the male group. In addition, the positive predictive effect of agreeableness on the depth of hypnosis was only found in "who had been hypnotized before" group. There was negative correlation between extroversion and scores of Subjective Experience Part’ "close eyes"(r=-0.202,p<0.05),and positive correlation(r=0.263,p<0.01)was found between extroversion and " lock fingers" in Objective Reaction Part. The positive prediction effect of extraversion on the "head down" behavior in Objective Response Part was only in the female group. There was significant positive correlation between the unconscious degree of the subject’s "head down" and the Subjective Internal Reaction(r=0.305,p<0.01).There was significant positive correlation between conscientiousness and "posthypnotic amnesia"(r=0.256,p<0.01)of the Subjective Intrinsic Reaction Part, which could positively predict the unconscious degree of this behavior, and the experience of Other Subjective Experience Part’s "I feel that I have a greater ability to do things and understand things than usual" as well(r=0.224,p<0.05).There was negative correlation between neuroticism and unconscious degree of "left hand sinking"(r=-0.231,p<0.05).[Conclusion]1.Subjects with different hypnotizability have different experiences in consciousness definition, attention span and will, but experience of somatosensory is affected by state.2.Subjects with different hypnotizability have similar activity in frontal lobe.3.The left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex function changes associated with hypnotizability.4.Hypnotizability has weak correlation with personality generally, and personality can predict hypnotizability to certain extent whereas its predictive effect is influenced by hypnotic related experience or gender. |
