Seamus Heaney,a famous Irish poet,won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995,not only is the second greatest Irish poet Yeats,but after Eliot and Auden,after the 20 th century the most important half of the English-speaking world poet.From the first collection of poems,"Death of a Naturalist",it received wide acclaim from critics,it is commendable that Heaney and not be burdened with such a good reputation,has maintained update of self-awareness,the road in the creation of poetry it has been on the front line,especially his later poems,exudes a charming light.This article describes the research status of Heaney in the preface.Main thesis is divided into three parts.The first part of Heaney's creative staging,are divided into " exploration of Irish Culture and Self " " prudence on the reality and self in Northern Ireland " and " trust in the world and the self " three times,and an overview of the characteristics of each period.The second part discusses the characteristics through close reading of the text Heaney late poetry,there are memories of childhood like the Garden of Eden,intertwined with history,reality and literary tradition,the sadness of death and the continuation of life.The third part of the meaning of Heaney's poetry is discussed,one of the literary tradition of succession,one with a balance of responsibility and poetry.In the conclusion part of the thesis,the thesis is reviewed and summarized.
