The west coast defence of Guangdong is one of the most important components in the whole Guangdong marine defense system at Qing Dynasty,it is divided into “Lianzhou Defense”and “Qiongzhou Defense”with the changes in sea defense situation in the later,and it's status of sea defense has been greatly improved.This paper study about the evolution of spatial pattern about Guangdong marine defense and the deployment of the coastal defense in the local prefectures of Guangdong through a large number of local records and map data,it gradually formed the Longmen association as the core of the northern Gulf coast defense system and to camp Naozhou as the core of the Guangzhou Bay coastal defense system in the west coast defence of Guangdong in the early Qing Dynasty.Then became Yangjiang Town,Qiongzhou town and Longmen tripartite confrontation trend with the Yangjiang Town,Qiongzhou town have been set up during Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty.The west coast defense eventually evolved into "Lian defense" and "Qiong defense" with the abolition of the town of Yangjiang and the setting up of the town of Beihai after the Opium War.The military deployment form the comprehensive coastal defense in the early Qing Dynasty became the the key of coast defence about important coastal cities?ports and islands in the later.In addition,some representative areas of the West Road are selected as a case in this paper,the interaction between local coastal defense and economic society is also discussed,in the final analysis,the strength of the coastal defense construction in a region depends on the level of social and economic development in this area,the social environment and the sea defense policy of the court in that time played a vital role in the interaction of the two.
