As a branch of anthropology,visual anthropology has been paid more and more attention by scholars,and the research on the ethnographic film has been increased.Influenced by the traditional scientific paradigm of anthropology,ethnographic film is regarded as a collection tool of anthropological fieldwork,which is of great value in the preservation and teaching of archives.With the increasing importance of film and television language in anthropological studies,ethnographic film is no longer a simple stack of video materials,but films that creators use film language to explain culture.Ethnographic film is keen to use the lens to record real,objective,and comprehensive cultural matters that are disappearing or about to disappear,not only in preserving and inheriting culture,but also in presenting the audience with a very different space in an ecological way to bring up pondering with respect to the human existence state and the spiritual world.This thesis mainly investigates the ethnographic film with narration and expression ability,the introduction of "heterotopias" concept,from the perspective of film studies,cultural anthropology,communication studies to conduct ethnographic research on construction of "heterotopias" and its cultural character.This thesis is divided into the following parts:The introduction clarifies the background,significance and value of the topic,combs the current research status of ethnographic film and "heterotopias" at home and abroad,and determines the research content and research methods of this thesis.The first chapter mainly analyzes the related concepts of ethnographic film,and combs the development and practice of ethnographic film in China.The second chapter mainly introduces the concept of "heterotopias".The ethnographic film constructs a completely different "heterotopias" through the image reproduction of geographical landscape and the art reprocessing of audiovisual language.The third chapter mainly discusses the cultural metaphor and reflection of human society on the basis of presenting cultural representation in ethnographic film from the perspective of cultural anthropology.The cultural exhibition is no longer a superficial record and performance,but an attempt to awaken ethnic memory and identity."Let me see myself in my absence" constitutes the aesthetic significance of the ethnographic film "Alien".The fourth chapter takes the film "the third pole" as the case analysis,tries to prove the "heterotopias" construction and its significance of ethnographic film from one side,and provides the reference for the later period ethnographic film creation.The fifth chapter analyzes the image communication value of the "heterotopias" culturefrom the angle of communication.For cultural holders,ethnographic film has the value of recording and preserving culture,exchanging and spreading culture,and for cultural others,ethnographic film can not only weaken people's stereotype of marginal culture,it can also provide the other with a place of projection and a place of spiritual sustenance.Finally,there are many new ideas and new methods of visual anthropology,which make the ethnographic film will no longer focus on minority marginalized groups and edge culture.Marginalized groups of mainstream culture and space culture has become the focus of research.No matter where the focus is,the ethnographic film is still characterize "other" world culture through narration and audio-visual language.
