Aristotle was a master of ancient Greek philosophy.His most representative ethical book,Nicomachean Ethics,put forward a complete and unique "happiness theory" system,laying the foundation for Western Ethics.This article takes the first volume of the Ncomachean Ethics as the research theme,and focuses on Thomas Aquinas,the master of medieval philosophy,centered on Commentary on the Nicomachean Ethics discourse,for the purpose of revealing Aristotle’s original meaning,and tried to grasp the core essence of Aristotle’s theory of happiness.The "Introduction" section mainly reviews the research status of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics at home and abroad.Briefly describes the status of Aristotle’s ethical position in its theoretical system;the Special Status of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics,and the significance of studying the first volume of Nicomachean Ethics.The first chapter outlines the tradition of commentary in Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics.First of all,traces the Nicomachean Ethics Commentator from the ancient Greek period to the middle Ages and compares their remarks.Then,centering on Thomas Aquinas’s commentary,exploring the translation and interpretation methods he bases on the ethics of Nicomachean Ethics.The second chapter focuses on Thomas Aquinas’s commentary and studies the first volume of Nicomachean Ethics.It is divided into four major parts.The first part is to search for the reasons for the centering of Thomas Aquinas’s Commentary.The second part is to analyze the introduction to the book Nicomachean Ethics.The third part officially enters into the exploration of happiness.The road mainly answers the question of "What is happiness".The fourth part explores "How to get happiness".The third chapter reviews the major issues involved in the first volume of Nicomachean Ethics,based on the research in Chapter Two.First,good is the prerequisite for happiness;second,the significance of the theory of happiness for political science;Finally,the relationship between happiness and virtue.The "Concluding Remarks" section proposes the ambiguity of Aristotle’s intention in the first volume of Nicomachean Ethics and summarizes the purpose and significance of Aristotle’s ethics teaching.Aristotle’s moral philosophy starts from the human experience and life as the starting point,ends with the rational thinking and happiness of human beings,pays attention to the whole human nature,and takes the human being who has morality as its fundamental purpose. |
