| The novice College English teachers who shoulder the important task of teaching reform and innovation have become the backbone of College English teachers in colleges and universities.The reform of College English requires high-quality foreign language teachers and their professional development.Paying attention to the professional development of novice teachers and improving the overall quality of College English teachers is the key of improving the quality of teaching,and also the key to the construction and development of College English courses.The author selected three novice College English teachers from three universities or colleges belonging to different three levels as the subjects of the study.By using the methods of literature analysis,interview and classroom observation,three questions about the development of novice College English teachers’ professional development in Hubei undergraduate colleges and universities are put forward by using the knowledge of education and so on: 1)How is the present situation of the professional development of novice College English teachers in colleges and universities? 2)What are the influencing factors of the professional development of the novice College English Teachers? 3)What related measures should be taken to promote the professional development for novice College English teachers?Next,according to the basis of teachers’ professional development,namely teachers’ spirit,teacher’s knowledge and teacher’s ability,three aspects of the qualitative research are adopted,and the data collected from the case study are summed up and deductive,and the data analysis is completed,and then the analysis is carried out.The results show that the professional development of novice College English teachers still faces many problems.For example,the subjective aspects,teacher’s belief is not consistent with the teaching behavior,the consciousness of professional development is not strong,the ability of scientific research is not strong,the structure of the subject knowledge is not reasonable especially the lack of interdisciplinary professional knowledge.In the objective aspect,the attention to English curriculum is not enough,there is a lack of good atmosphere for peer cooperation,lack of opportunities for further learning and lack of effectiveness in pre service training.Finally,this study also found the shortcomings of the analysis,such as time and energy limited,the data collected may not be comprehensive,because it is a case study,the results of the study are more difficult to promote,not universally suitable.The author comes up with views and prospects for future research in this field. |
