Due to the uneven development of our country's economy and the imbalance between urban and rural areas,a special group of rural children left-behind in China has been born. These left-behind children are often vulnerable to mental health problems due to lack of parental companionship.Especially, when the left-behind children enter the junior middle school stage, the imbalance between their psychological and physiological development is more likely to lead to their mental health problems. At present,it seems that the mental health problems of the rural leftbehind junior high school students have become an undisputed fact.It is of great social significance to find out the ways to maintain their mental health and promote the smooth development of the junior high school students in rural areas.Under the above background,in order to clarify the relationship between mental health status and emotional intelligence, and social support of the rural left-behind junior middle school students, this study further clarified the predictive effect of emotional intelligence and social support on their mental health. The mental health, social support and emotional intelligence of 561 rural left-behind junior middle school students were investigated by the emotional intelligence scale. The independent sample t test, correlation analysis and regression analysis were carried out on the survey data. The results are as follows:(1)The mental health problems of the rural left-behind junior middle school students are generally common, and the problems of anxiety are more serious;(2)The mental health level of the rural-left behind junior middle school students is significantly lower than the mental health level of the rural non-left-behind junior middle school students;(3)The mental health level of the rural left-behind junior middle school students who are all out of their parents is significantly lower than that of the rural-left behind junior middle school students from their parents.(4)The boys in the rural left-behind junior middle school arehigher than the rural left-behind junior middle school girls in the aspects of compulsion, paranoia, hostility, interpersonal tension sensitivity and psychological imbalance. But the anxiety is lower than the rural junior middle school girls;(5)The only-child rural left-behind junior middle school students are significantly higher than the non-only-children in the rural left behind junior middle school students;(6)The emotional intelligence of the rural left-behind junior middle school students can predict their mental health level positively;(7)The social support of the rural left-behind junior middle school students can predict their mental health level positively;(8)The emotional intelligence of the rural left-behind junior middle school students can predict their social support positively;(9)Emotional intelligence of rural left-behind junior middle school students plays a partial mediating role in social support and mental health.Based on the results of this study,in the process of promoting the mental health of the rural left-behind junior middle school students,we should pay attention to the mental health characteristics of the rural left-behind junior middle school students and start from the emotional intelligence and social support, and improve the mental health of the rural left-behind junior middle school students by improving the emotional intelligence and social support status of the rural left-behind junior middle school students.
