Disease Writing In The Novels Of Wang Anyi

In Wang Anyi’s novels,disease is not only used as a metaphor to explain her personal thoughts and social culture,but also participates the construction of the text.Taking disease as the cut-in spot,this article analyzes the artistic features of disease writing and humanistic care in Wang Anyi’s novels,with the interpretation of Anonymous and The Age of Enlightment.The article is divided into five parts.Introduction states the general situation of Wang Anyi’s writing,the summary of previous studies,the motivation and the innovation of this article.The first chapter focuses on the metaphorical meaning of depression in Wang Anyi’s text.First of all,it points out that depression indicates the intellectual’s reflection on the revolution in the Anonymous,the inner conflict of the son of nature in the The Age of Enlightment,and the women writer’s questioning of time and space in the Love to the Void.Secondly,it points out that from the perspective of Wang Anyi’s whole novels,depression refers to the germination of personal rationality.The second chapter focuses on the relationship with tuberculosis and Xiao Laoda as an enlighter.Firstly,it discusses Wang Anyi portrays Xiao Laoda as an enlighter who is different from other red guards by using romantic writing about tuberculosis.Secondly,it explains the influence of tuberculosis on Nanchang’s life education given by Xiao Laoda.The third chapter explores how Wang Anyi constructs the world of disease in the Anonymous.It can be divided into five aspects: the narrative function of amnesia,the narrative model of "patients as enlighteners are better than healthy people ",the etiology and the geracomium as metaphors,and the narrative structure of two worlds and two states of living.The conclusion explores the significance of the disease writing in Wang Anyi’s novels.Wang Anyi inherited the writing tradition of the May Fourth Writers such as Lu Xun,Ding Ling,and Cao Yu,redefining for patients in their articles.Compared with the predecessors’ writing,the uniqueness of Wang Anyi’s writing on diseases is to reconsider the modern civilization.In conclusion,Wang Anyi’s writing on diseases is not only a statement of facts,but also a means of self-expression.
