Critical thinking refers to the ability of people to identify the complex and changeable information in today's world,and the ability of scientific learning,including analysis,reasoning,evaluation and so on.And the method of teaching critical thinking is the important part.Inquiry learning has become a hot topic in education research in recent years,especially the eighth curriculum reform pilot program was published.Inquiry-based learning requires students to independent thinking,team communication to clarify problems and conclusions,evaluation of source credibility,etc.Thus this can cultivate students' independent thinking and critical thinking.But in recent years,Chinese scholars mainly focuses on college students and senior high school students' critical thinking,and it pays little attention to the relationship between inquiry learning and critical thinking.As knowledge renovation fast and students absorb knowledge quickly,the junior middle school students' critical thinking also requires the attention,so this article research is about in English reading class,inquiry-based learning will affect critical thinking.In this research,W junior school is the experimental school,which is located in Guangdong province Shenzhen Futian district.The grade 7 class 3 is the control class,the grade 7 class 4 is the experimental classes,a total of 90 students take part in this study,English teacher teaches two classes at the same time.The experiment lasts four months.In daily English reading class,teacher adopt the approach of inquiry learning,observe the influence of students' critical thinking and the variation of the score rate of reading comprehension.Then,the conclusions can be draw.Finally this study found that the students' critical thinking develop by using the inquiry learning method.There are significant differences in experimental class and control class,and the experimental class of reading comprehension is also significantly higher than control class.In conclusion,adopting inquiry learning is useful for students to think independently,find problems,explore the answer and so on,especially for the arts subject,teachers and students should not only attach importance to the knowledge of linguistics,more emphasis on the deeper meaning behind the text.Only in a similar way to learn,that can cultivate students' critical thinking,at the same time for at ordinary times of reading comprehension is a significant help.
