| In the course of Foucault’s thoughts,the literary criticism in the 60‘s brought him some special experience,which created a tension between his philosophical thoughts and literary thoughts.Surprisingly,it disappeared in Foucault’s works during the 70’s.Following such a doubt,it is necessary to rethink Foucault’s ideas on literature.To Foucault,the reflection on literature is firstly connected to the analysis of language,which constitutes the main contents of Chapter Two in this article.From the episteme of representation in Classical Age to modern episteme in the end of 18~thh century,language got rid of the framework limited by representation,and turned eyes to itself,which contributes to the divorce between words and things.With the return of the existence of language,we are led to the threshold of literature,where stands Sade.Through a kind of writing on desire,Sade’s language transcended the pure function of representation,while conveyed the value of modern literature.In Chapter Three,we mainly focus on demonstrating the idea of literature in a theoretical way.In Foucault’s idea,literature is a third item compared to language and works,which is placed in an absent space shaped by the latter two.With the help of critique about Maurice Blanchot and Raymond Roussel,Foucault described literature as two images:transgression and repetition.Transgression means an endeavor to go beyond oneself,while repetition is a continuous confirmation to the former one.In the end,Chapter Four aims to discuss the connection between Foucault’s ideas of literature and philosophical thoughts.It’s believed that a kind of consistency is constructed,from where we can start with Foucault‘s idea of literature and end up with reflection of his philosophical motif.Literature language,in Foucault’s mind,is something transcending representation and self-speaking,which consists with his anti-subject thoughts.Meanwhile,Foucault’s explanation on“transgression and repetition”finally finds its way led to the topic of enlightenment and modernity.By exploring into Foucault’s ideas of literature,not only can we enrich the connotation of literature,but also gain a complete image of Foucault himself. |
