The Correlation Between Surrealism In Contemporary Claborate-Style Painting And My Personal Art Creation

Surrealism is a literature and art genre born in France during the 1930 s to 1940 s,and was very popular in Europe.It has profound impact on the many literature and artistic creation of the later generations.Claborate-style painting is a traditional painting technique that is popular since the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties until today.As compared to conceptual painting,the strokes tend to be more realistic,more elaborate,neat and delicate.Since the 1980 s to the beginning of this century,researches on cutting-edge claborate-style painting represented by the major art institutes in the country,and also in various areas in Hangzhou and Beijing,were conducted in full swing.In the age of rapid information transfer with high degree of cultural exchange,the aesthetic view of the public has expanded,and the demand for the diversity of forms of painting is also gradually increasing.Traditional Chinese claborate-style painting is mainly showing real-life people,things and scenery,emphasizing on the profound artistic conception,and the pictures are usually elegant.When involving mythology and religion,there is also a complete worldview that is in line with the logic of the real society.With such stable background tradition,and the intervention of the "subconscious","dreamland" and "intuition" with surrealistic spirit,the absurd combination between the realistic elements not only coincides with the idea of traditional Chinese painting in pursuing subtle expression of the theme,but also brought forth a refreshing look on the expression of the traditional art.This article explores the characteristics of surrealism embodied in contemporary fine brushwork,and to a certain extent,it also explores the aesthetic taste of contemporary art with the core of Western culture and the quiet evolution of Chinese traditional arts.“Surrealism” is a form of expressive writing.From the perspective of contentcommunication,"metaphor","symbol","reflection”,"synaesthesia" and other methods can all be covered under surrealism,which undoubtedly gives creators great freedom.From the 1990 s until today,many artist's creation is with this tendency,hence it is not uncommon.Surrealist painting was born with a historical background just after the First World War and a social development background of the Second Industrial Revolution,and supported by a matured theoretical psychoanalysis.Fear and anxiety brought by the war,the rapid increase of productivity,and the resolution of dreams and emotions-this series of stimulation has brought about a breakthrough in the way artists think,leading to the flourish of "non-mainstream" theme such as surrealism in Europe.In the present21 st century,the rapid development in our country is very similar to the social development in the early days of Western surrealism,which triggered many local artists to think about people and the society.Therefore,the theme of surrealism entering the system of contemporary art in our country and being combined with our traditional Chinese painting is reasonable.We all need new ways of expression to showcase our thought and exploration of this ever-changing world.Since the 21 st century,claborate-style painting is moving towards exploration of a new outlook that corresponds with time.Many artists tried many new forms and content in their artwork.Among them,the surrealistic expression of romance shows the harmony and integration with the claborate-style artwork.The traditional technique of claborate-style painting and its realistic portrayal provided a solid foundation for the surrealism theme.This article studies the traditional Chinese claborate-style painting from the perspective of surrealism,the purpose is to iron out the logic and clues of the surrealism theme,and to compare the similarities and differences between surrealistic arts and the traditional Chinese painting techniques,to provide theoretical reference and basis for my personal art creation,and also hope to provide a hint of inspiration for claborate-stye painting,which is on its journey of creativity breakthrough.
