Under the current trend of multiculturalism and border theory, the autobiographical literature research has shown considerable vitality in the study of the combination of literature with the literature of other types.Gertrude Stein's writing has strong autobiographical characteristics. This article will break the genre boundary and make a comprehensive study on Stein's autobiographical and non-autobiographical works.Connecting the text narrative with social-cultural ideology closely, this study avoids the limitation of a single identity perspective and make a comprehensive analysis on Stein's gender, sexual, ethnic identity. This paper will use feminism,Foucault's power theory and reveal the author's handling of her multicultural identity through analyzing the literariness of Stein's works. The dissertation is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction. It mainly introduces the origin of Stein's autobiographical writing and the comprehensive research status of Stein home and abroad. The second chapter is a comprehensive analysis of the autobiographical characteristics of Stein's overall writing from the level of textual types, namely, the novelization of autobiography and the autobiography of non-autobiography.The third chapter analyzes the shaping of Stein's self-image from the perspective of Stein's projection and self-construction of characters, and reveals that she pays attention to marginal groups and displays multiple self-identities through means such as emphasis, substitution and empathy. The fourth chapter analyzes Stein's self-expression from the perspective of narrative voice, mainly from the confusing narrative voice, the literary characteristics of repetition and paradox,to shed light on her understanding and treatment with her multiple identities.Chapter V summarizes the writing position and meaning of Stein's autobiographical writing from the perspective of contrast.
