A Study Of The Effect Of Intercultural Training On The Level OfIntercultural Sensitivity-

The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of intercultural training and to analyze the current situation of intercultural training courses in Dalian University of Technology.This study used quantitative research methods to investigate 200 students from Dalian University of Technology who have participated in intercultural training courses.These students were surveyed through questionnaire before the courses,which include personal information and intercultural sensitivity scale.At the end of the course,the same questionnaire was used to investigate the intercultural sensitivity of students after training,and to analyze whether there was significant difference in intercultural sensitivity before and after training.It also investigated whether factors such as major had a significant impact on sensitivity and whether they had an impact on students' receptivity of intercultural training.The results showed that the intercultural sensitivity of 200 students in DUT was moderate,and the level of intercultural sensitivity increased significantly after training.Among the five factors of intercultural sensitivity,interaction engagement is the best predictor of both English majors' and non-English majors' self-perception of intercultural training.In addition,gender,experience of going abroad and career orientation also have a significant impact on intercultural sensitivity.There are significant differences in respect of cultural differences and interaction engagement on variable gender and interaction engagement,interaction confidence,interaction attentiveness on variable career orientation.Through the empirical research on intercultural training and students' intercultural sensitivity,the effectiveness of the training course is proved,in the mean time,students' motivation in intercultural interaction including interaction engagement and career orientation is proved to be important in intercultural training.
