The novel The Deliberation of Suspect X is a masterpiece of the Japanese writer Higashino Keigo.Once published,it swept through the list of major Japanese mystery novels. The author himself also has a large fan base of readers in China. In recent years,Japan,South Korea, and China have made unique film adaptations of this novel text. This phenomenon is extremely rare in film creation.Through the study of the phenomenon of transnational film adaptation of Higashino Keigo's The Deliberation of Suspect X,this article combines and summarizes the strategy and beneficial experience of transnational film adaptation and local adaptation. The first chapter will define concepts such as adaptation and cross-cultural adaptation, explain the reasons and methods for literary works that can be adapted for film and television, and review the historical nodes of the filmadaptation and television works from the perspective of history. The second chapter will discuss the transnational adaptation of Higashino Keigo's The Delusion of Suspect X,which includes the introduction of Higashino Keigo himself, and deconstruction of the novel text The Confession of the suspect X.Over a decade has witnessed the three transnational adaptations of Japan,South Korea, and China from the text of the novel to the movie. The third chapter will start with the adapted versions of the film The Confession of the suspect X in Japan,Korea, and China, and explore the adaptation strategy and local adaptability of the three versions. From the adaptation strategy, the Japanese one is faithful to the story structure and plot settings of the original novel. It tries its best to restore the sense of suspense and reasoning of the novel text,by the showdown between the mathematical genius Ishiguro and the physical genius Yukawa. The Korean version is adapted from the useful experience of Korean criminal films. It enlarges the love elements,Jin Shigu's love for Bai Huashan,in the film. The Chinese version is basically faithful to the plot settings and characters of the original novel. However, some Chinese elements were added to the film in order to make the audience to recognize and accept its localization strategy. The fourth chapter, based on the experience of the three countries' filmadaptation in the previous section, provides insights for the creation of transnational adaptations of domestic films and the creation of suspicious inference topics.
