The model of 3Ps is a mode of teaching generated in the western educational circles in1970 s.Under the influence of the communicative language teaching model,the 3Ps teaching method actually divides language teaching into three basic links,namely,demonstration(presentation),exercise(practice)and expression(production).3Ps teaching method has entered the field of view of Chinese scholars earlier,and is widely used in the instruction of College English in our country.With the continuous improvement of the teaching level,there are a series of problems in the 3Ps model itself.This is the main reason why scholars continue to study and try to open the new ideas of the reform of teaching methods.The CALLA is based on the cognitive theory and the cognitive learning strategy based on the basic strategy of second language teaching.CALLA the teaching activities can be divided into three links,content basic,academic language and strategy.The whole teaching process consists of five phases: preparation,presentation,practice,self-evaluation and expansion.The students’ autonomy,the practical characteristics of language application and the formation of learning strategies in the CALLA just make up some of the shortcomings in the 3Ps model,which makes the CALLA play a unique advantage in English teaching.In order to further explore the effect of the two models in College English instruction,this study makes a comparative analysis of the two English teaching models through teaching experiments,trying to find a new direction and new way for the reform of College English instruction mode in this process.This research has combed and generalizes the connotation,process,theoretical basis and current research situation of CALLA and 3Ps model in College English instruction.Based on the above contents,we carry out teaching experiment research,and explore the difference between CALLA and 3Ps mode in improving students’ learning effect.In the experiment,the experiment group and the control group were taught in two teaching modes.Before and after the teaching,the pre test and post test were carried out,and the results were analyzed.The results were compared with the results of the two teaching methods.The experimental data show that the learners using the CALLA and 3P teaching models can improve the students’ English proficiency test scores,but the results of the CALLA are better than those of the 3Ps teaching model.At the same time,according to the observation of the students’ learning process,we can see that compared with the 3Ps teaching model,the use of CALLA mode is more significant to improve students’ English level and achievement,and can improve the students’ awareness and ability to master the learning strategies.Therefore,CALLA is more conducive to students’ understanding and mastery of knowledge. |
