language is not only a communicative tool but also an important carrier of culture.Obviously,undergraduates definitively learn the western culture more or less when learning English.Especially for English majors from foreign language university,they have the professional and systematic western culture classes besides the culture learned from outside class.So they inevitably encounter the problem of how to treat two cultures.As modern college students,they are the inheritor and maker of culture.Therefore,the current situation of English major undergraduates' cultural identity should be studied objectively under the perspective of language and culture.Based on the bilingualism theory and constructive learning theory,the research studies the cultural identity of English Major undergraduates in foreign language university by using quantitative research in the form of questionnaire survey and qualitative research in the form of interview.The purpose of the questionnaire survey is to study the current situation of undergraduates' cultural identity,the current situation of the students with different learning backgrounds(the different grades of starting to learn English,senior and junior English majors)and their difference in cultural identity.According to the results of questionnaire,the semi-open interview was conducted by choosing eight interviewees purposely.The results of the interview are the supplement and justification of the results of questionnaire.Through the semi-open interview and the questionnaire survey,research results are:(1)English majors have two cultural identities.(2)The students with different grades of starting to learn English have no difference in cultural identity.(3)The factor “ senior and junior English majors” is one of the factors which can effect Disruptive bilingualism.Based on these results,some suggestions are given from theperspectives of campus culture construction,classroom teaching and upgrading teachers' own specialty level to improve students' Productive Bilingualism,to arouse their cultural confidence and consciousness,so that they should shoulder up the mission of inheriting and innovating cultural to promote the advanced cultural construction of socialism.
