A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Tender Document For Aau Project From The Perspective Of House's Translation Quality Assessment

With the development of the “Belt and Road” initiative,Chinese enterprises have developed rapidly and become more standardized in the tendering and bidding industry.This thesis is a practical report on the E-C translation of tender documents.The translation practice is about the translation of the Tender Document for AAU Project,with the Requirement Statement section handled by the author as the case studies of this report.According to the client's feedback and the problems encountered during translation,the author summarizes the translation problems in three categories: lexical problems,syntactical problems,and textual problems.The author analyzes the register and genre of tender document from the perspective of Juliane House's translation quality assessment,and adopts reasonable translation techniques accordingly.A covert translation is a translation which enjoys the status of the source text in the target culture.The translation of tender document should keep the cultural features of the original text,and the potential target readers of the tender document are unspecified companies,thus the translation of tender document is a covert translation.It is expected that this report,under the guidance of House's translation quality assessment,can improve the quality of translation and avoids colloquial language by adopting targeted translation techniques based on the features and function of covert translation.Therefore,this report can offer guidance to improve the translation quality of tender documents.It is expected that the combination of House's translation quality assessment and the translation of tender documents can provide reference for future translations of such type.
