To learn English,learners must read English to obtain more language information.Therefore,improving English reading ability has become a key part in the English teaching process.Effective English reading is an important part of English course.Teacher's teaching about reading comprehension is of great importance in the whole English Teaching.The curriculum reform has been carried for a long time in our country,the teaching research has never stopped in senior high school.But in the actual rural senior high school in English reading teaching,because of the influence of the region,the teacher's strength,the student source,the theory and practice disjointed and there are still many problems that teachers felt confused in English reading teaching process.Based on the investigation of English reading teaching in a rural high school,the research connects with the theory,using some ways such as :literature analysis,questionnaire survey,case analysis,this paper elaborates connotation of reading teaching,the theoretical study of reading teaching model.Furthermore,this paper analyses the investigation in M Middle School,finding out the problems of reading teaching.Through reading material selection and interpretation,reading lesson design,reading class teaching implementation and after-school reflection,new ways to solve this problem are explored and suitable teaching strategies for rural senior middle school are put forward.We hope through this study,more attention will be paid to this issue,to improve the existing teaching methods of English reading,contribute to the professional development of teachers and develop students' reading ability in rural high school.In the last part,using Oxford English books(Yilin Edition),Module 5 Unit 2 to practise the teaching reading strategies.Through this study,we can draw a conclusion :Based on English reading on the basis of rural high school students,we should improve English reading teaching from five aspects: material selection,interpretation,teaching design,class teaching and reflection,so as to effectively improve the English reading teaching in rural high schools.It is hoped that this research will arouse more attention to this problem,so as to improve the present English reading teaching methods,to promote the professional development of English teachers,and improve the comprehensive reading ability of students in rural high school.
