Study On Guidance Of Marxism Value In College English Major Courses

At the end of 2016,president Xi Jinping put forward in College Ideological and Political Work Conference that ‘courses of different kinds should combine with ideological and political theory course to form synergistic effect' which has received active response of education field.Several universities in Shanghai have attempted to carry out ‘ideological and political of all courses' and have made certain achievement.‘Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era' that brought forward in the 19 th congress of the communist party of China,offer the newest theory for college ideological and political education.English major course teaching is special in the college ideological and political education because on one hand,it is in the front of the intersection of Chinese and western culture and value,on the other hand it cultivate foreign language talents with Marxism belief for socialist construction.Hence,it is particularly significant to enhance the guidance of Marxism value.It is necessary to study the situation and problems exist of the guidance of Marxism value in English major course teaching.Take China University of Mining and Technology as an example,this thesis investigates the current situation of English majors' value by compiling the questionnaire and contrasting them with other majors,and then design the questionnaire especially for them to inspect the pertinence of major course teaching and students' value from aspects of teaching materials and teachers' words and deeds.Besides,the thesis investigate the possible influence factor of teacher and teaching materials by interviewing 15 English major teachers and consulting major textbooks.Research has shown that problems do exist that Marxism value request of major cultivate target blurs,overmuch attention was paid to study professional knowledge and skill than Marxism value and teachers' awareness of guidance are weak.These problems formed mainly because the differences between establishment and implementation of foreign language education policies,lack of systematic learning of Marxism value for teachers,absence of ideological sensibility on choice of teaching materials and lack of Chinese excellent culture elements in teaching contents.In order to make the guidance effect of Marxism value fully come into play in present college English major course teaching,we should use Marxism to direct the choice of teaching materials and arm teachers,add Chinese excellent culture elements into teaching contents,and enhance the construction of ‘ideological and political of all courses'.
