Study About The Changes In Customs Of Waxiang People In The Western Of Hunan Province

This article attempts to study about the custom of the Waxiang people in the western of Hunan Province from the perspective of folklore and cultural anthropology.Taking Jiangjia Village in Shaojiwan Town of Yuanling County as a case.The question of the ethnicity of the Waxiang people has always been the focus of the academic community.Its current ethnicity or Han or Miao or Tujia.Jiangjia Village is a typical village inhabited by Waxiang people.Because of its convenient transportation and frequent exchanges with the outside world,the Waxiang people living here have constantly adjusted their livelihoods and lifestyles.Their customs such as language,costumes,food,wedding and funeral etiquette have making great changes.This article is divided into four chapters.It is intended to give an ethnographic description of Jiangjia Village's living customs,life etiquette,festivals and beliefs,etc..Then display its changing image objectively and discuss the main reasons for the changes of the custom.The writing purpose is across to analyze the case of the customary changes of the Waxiang people,they can understand their own cultural reality and its evolution more clearly,thus providing certain decision-making references for the beautiful-village construction and increase the cultural self-confidence of the Waxiang people.
