The United States is a country that composed of immigrants and their descendants.The immigrants created the history and reality of the United States.Immigration issue has became the attention of all U.S.governments.The formulation of the U.S.immigration policy is related to the political,economic and cultural backgrounds in different periods.The terrorist attacks of September 11 exposed many loopholes in the process of formulation and implementation of the immigration policy in the United States.Subsequently,the rapid immigration policy tightened and safeguarding the national security of the United States became the core principle of immigration policy formulation during this period.This paper is mainly based on the special historical events of the terrorist attacks as the background,and analyses how the national security factors affect the formulation and implementation of U.S.immigration policy after the incident occurred,and what changes have brought about.It shows immigration policies led by national security factors in this period and analyzes it in depth.Through the immigration policy,we can get an in-depth understanding of American society during this period.The foreword part explains the situation of current research about the macroscopic issues of the effect of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on immigration policy making.Introduce the research approach and goal of this paper.Part one reviews the achievements of the American scholars,introduces the definition of the concept of "national security" in the United States,and presents the historical development from the time of the American colonial period to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.At several key time points,the impact of security factors on the making of immigration policies.Part two first describes the reaction of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.It shows the rapid tightening of U.S.immigration policy in six aspects.Part three analyses the laws and regulations that the United States will ensure the national security of the United States as the core interest after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the laws and regulations that are led by this factor and the specific implementation process.In particular,the Patriot Act ran counter to the traditional concept of freedom and equality in the United States.The relationship between national security and civil liberties was dominated by the American society,especially the general public are concerned about.The conclusion summarizes briefly the full paper.The essence of the U.S.immigration policy is always based on the principle of national interest and satisfies the needs of its national interests to the maximum extent.In a word,regardless of the immigration policy of the United States changes in the future,it is paramount to safeguard the interests of the country and safeguard national security.
