The Fickleness Of The Boxer Movement

This article takes "the Boxer Novels" as the research object in the past 100 years,and discusses the evolution of "the Boxer Novel" in the history of literature and the meaning of the novel text and the relationship with different times and literature development.In order to achieve the purpose of writing this article,the theorists will carry out the following arguments in turn.The first is to define the concepts of the The Boxer Movement,the Boxer Novels,and the 100-years the Boxer Novels,clarify the boundaries and differences of these concepts,and then use the “demonization” according to the ideological and narrative styles.Divinization,"instrumentalization" and "diversification" are the key words to divide and summarize the "The Boxer Novels" from 1900 to the present.Through the writing and evaluation of this movement by novelists in different periods,this paper analyzes the times and literary culture of these novels.Beyond the macroscopic,this article analyzes the characteristics of the "certificate history" and "legend" that the novel under this theme has interwoven through four novel texts.In the change of attitude towards traditional culture and western civilization,we summed up the valuesand narrative tendencies that they respectively possess: “Westernization” “modernization” “revolutionary” and “individualization”.In addition,the narrative and experience of western historians and the recording of this incident and the introduction and evaluation of the Boxer Movement by Western novelists can provide an exotic view of the text and find its historical,cultural and social significance.Finally,like the political movements such as the Revolution of 1898 and the Revolution of 1911,the Boxer Movement gradually became an important cultural symbol or symbol when it was continuously written.Its frequent appearance reflected the literary culture and even the entire society.The awakening of national consciousness and the repetition of the modernization process are also the basic clues of the author’s writing.
