The city is the soil for the elite to survive. After the Chinese society entered the 1990 s,the process of urbanization accelerated, creating a large number of new rich people, the so-called "successful people" and "social elites." The literary reflection of the rise and growth of urban elites is that in this field of literature there are novels that are represented by this class of people or have certain elite consciousness. How to look at the expressiveness of this emerging social class in literature and the writing of urban elite figures by writers is an important topic in contemporary urban literature studies, and it is also a supplement and improvement to previous literary figures.Nowadays, whether in literature, sociology or mass media, the definition of the urban elite is all too vague and controversial. In order to avoid the controversy over the scope of the research object caused by the concept, this article first defines the concept of “urban elite” from the literary level.Referring to the performance elements of such figures in past literary texts,it is mainly believed that knowledge empowering elites and cultural capital are important factors in determining an elite identity. This kind of cultural capital has caused people's interest in life style to differ from those of the general public. In addition, the right of the elite to enjoy the right to speak makes them have the identity of participants in public life. Therefore, novels that target urban elites are usually social “problem novels”.Within this framework, the paper sorts out several representative elite figures in literature since the 1990 s,and the cultural context behind these images and the narrative strategies employed by writers in shaping characters. This character series has a very strong cultural coverage and expressive force at the literary level.Behind the image of different types of urban elites,“stand” includes multiple cultural contexts including consumer culture, feminist culture, and post-colonial culture. When the writer shapes these characters,he usually puts them in the moralization of desire writing, builds up the basic skeleton of the novel with multi-dimension “binary opposition”,creates contradictions and conflicts of the story and the “success” of the characters.myth.However,at the same time, the construction of this character image quickly revealed "fatigue" after entering the right track of the story.Under the control of urbanism in the ideological trend of nihilism, the novel's narrative is often trapped in a cycle of constructing and self-deconstructing characters. At the same time, this article looks back at the spiritual elite face of urban elites from the angles of marriage and love, stratum differences, and interpersonal relationships, and explores the other “half-face” hidden behind “success” and interprets the psychological causes and symptoms. It is mainly believed that under the face of multiple faces of decent and deformed metropolitan elites, they showed deep anxiety and anxiety on the whole. This was brought about by the strong sense of existence and egoism of this class. In addition, the superiority and arrogance of urban elites with "modernity" breaks them up with traditions. This "superiority" may be just a cultural gesture and exists in the elite consciousness of the characters. At the literary level, the writer has deliberately created the “modernity” character of the city by continuously implanting and strengthening Westernized and modern urban scenes, thereby strengthening the contrast between the material representation of the city and the inner world of the characters.Under the scrutiny of a strong sense of modernity, there are more and more urban novels about modern and postmodern writing. The humanitarian crises in the works are becoming more and more important, and the character's spiritual world is absurd. On the other hand, for urban elites who have been educated in elite education and standardized in the structure of modern social organizations, under an orderly organizational rule, people will have no sense of resistance against reality, that is,rebel ion against modern civilization and order. In essence, this is the road to “self-salvation” in another sense that people are surrounded by urban nihilism. Finally,as a kind of literary character image, the shaping of the urban elite is the cultural imagination of writers with elite consciousness. This kind of imagination reflects the urban view of urban writers. There are intellectual intellectuals' rebellion against civilization and concerns about the prospect of urban modernity.
