Peng-cheng Liu And Literature In Tang Dynasty

Liu clan in Peng-cheng was a very famous family which had a long history in the Middle Ages.The existing researches about Peng-cheng Liu clan are so rich,but most of schlors pay more attention to individual members' and their works' researches,lacking of overall care.This paper studies the family development,family culture and tradition,literary creation and influence of the Peng-cheng liu clan in Tang Dynasty.There were plenty of talented people and officials in Liu clan,so Peng-cheng liu clan in Tang Dynasty still had great influence.Especially in literature filed,Liu clan made lots of great achievements,there were so many members good at writing poems,novels,proses etc,and became an important cultural clan in Tang Dynasty.The first chapter of this paper summarizes Peng-cheng liu's development in the Middle Ages,combing the origin of Peng-cheng liu,analyzing the transformation of the liu's clan from relying on military to become a gentler family in Tang Dynasty,suming up that Liu promoted their social status by inheriting from last generation,imperial examinations and marriage.The second chapter dicusses the culture of Peng-cheng Liu clan in Tang Dynasty.Liu clan had deep and long historical heritage in studying classics,historiography,literature and calligraphy,in the meanwhile,the family also had successes in traditional Chinese medical science,painting and music.The third chapter studies the tradition of Peng-cheng Liu clan in Tang Dynasty.Most of the members from Liu clan were uesd to to obey Confucian moral concepts and standards,and their family tradition was mainly embodied in being chairtable and dutiful,brave and righteous,laborious and incorrupt.The fourth chapter analyzes Peng-cheng Liu's creations and accomplishments about their proems and novels.A great number of Peng-cheng Liu's members were proficient in poems and proses,and they leaved us so many outstanding works.In addition that,some of the members have done well in the field of novels.The fifth chapter discusses the intrinsic connection between Peng-cheng Liu clan and the Ancient Literature Movement in Tang Dynasty.Influenced by the tradition of attaching great importance to the classics and historiography,the members were keen on the creation of ancient prose,and the ancient prose theory of few people in Liu clan promoted the development of the Ancient Literature Movement in Tang Dynasty.
