Learning burnout is a status of students with emotional exhaustion,cynicism and decreased professional self-efficacy due to long-term academic learning pressure in learning process.English learning burnout has negative influence on students' physical and mental health as well as their learning.Currently,most studies in China focus on students of Han nationality from university but few of them are about senior high school minority students.This research is based on Maslach's three-dimensional burnout theory and Weiner's attribution theory,aiming to explore the current situation of senior high school Hani students' English learning burnout and the influential factors.The final purpose of this study is to propose some feasible suggestions to reduce students' English learning burnout.The research subjects come from a senior high school in Yuanjiang Hani,Yi and Dai Autonomous County in Yunnan province.Three research questions in this study are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of senior high school Hani students' English learning burnout in Yuanjiang?(2)What are the influential factors of senior high school Hani students' English learning burnout?(3)What are the countermeasures to reduce Hani students' English learning burnout? This study employed qualitative and quantitative approaches,using IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0 as a tool for data analysis.The data analysis methods used in this thesis are mainly descriptive analysis and independent sample T-test.Through the analysis and comparison of mean scores and standard deviation of each dimension in the questionnaires,this study attempts to explore Hani students' English learning burnout phenomenon.Furthermore,this study also involves in personal interviews.The results show that:(1)Hani students have English learning burnout to some extent,which is mainly reflects by cynicism dimension and decreased professional self-efficacy dimension.(2)As for the influential factors,Hani students who participate in this survey mainly attribute their English learning burnout to subject-related factors and student-related factors.The former factors are the mostserious influencing ones,followed by environmental-related factors and teacher-related factors.(3)Different from previous studies,there is no difference in gender and grade of Hani students' English learning burnout.(4)Due to special cultural background and geographical environment as well as family's educational concept,Hani students have a weak foundation in English,and most of them do not attach importance to English study.Moreover,students who have weak foundation in English easily have learning burnout.Based on these findings,this study proposes the following suggestions:(1)Students should comprehend English subject appropriately and develop a positive attitude towards English learning as well as improve their self-control ability.(2)English teachers should adopt a variety of teaching methods and media equipment should be adopted in the teaching process to stimulate students' interest in English learning.Secondly,they should pay more attention to students' psychology,especially when students encounter frustrations,teachers should help them to build up confidence in English learning.In addition,teachers should give students positive feedback in time and lead students to attribution properly.(3)It is important that parents of students need to change inappropriate educational concept and avoid improper incentive ways.Hopefully this study can help students to alleviate their English learning burnout,and make a certain contribution to the research field of ethnic students' English learning burnout.
