Research On The Inscription Of Tangut Documents

Tangut document inscription refers to the characters that are imprinted or written on mediums such as texts and walls to record the era,writing,engraving,collation,spread,worship,prayer,and owner of Tangut period.Tangut manuscripts retain a large number of inscriptions that contain rich social materials and reflect the people's social life in the historical period of Tangut.From this,people can obtain information of engraving,calendar year,writing,names,religious beliefs and others.This paper compiles the now-published Tangut document inscription and corrects the predecessor's record.From the point of reference of Tangut document inscriptions,this paper attempts to generalize the contents and classification features of Tangut document inscriptions;from the point of writing style,this paper expounds Tangut inscription to prove that there is no compound surname in Tangut.This paper with examples also expounds the important value of Tangut document inscription in the historical materials,which can be summarized as "Civil History of Tangut Chronicle".This paper further discusses some specific issues based on individual inscriptions.Based on a large number of inscriptions and using statistical methods,this paper search for the characteristics of Tangut "Pingque" system,and explores Buddhist worship time and possible reasons for choosing worship time.
