| Lexicon is one of the three fundamental elements that form language.Although the study on lexical teaching and learning grasped only a few concerns even was ignored in most of the time in history of English teaching,it wins a growing attention from educators and researchers since the 1980s,which makes lexical teaching weigh heavier in English teaching compared with the past.Many scholars at home and abroad have studied English lexical teaching and learning from diverse angles,whereas it remains rare of the study on exploration of English lexical teaching from Suggestopedia perspective.Because students majoring in areas with regard to art and music have a relatively strong sense on English songs,this paper will explore relation between college English lexical teaching and learning for art majors and English songs.Hence three research questions are designed as below:· Can suggestion of English songs prompt lexical teaching of English as a second language for art majors at college?· What kind of roles can suggestion of English songs play to facilitate lexical teaching of English as a second language for art majors at college?·What teaching strategies can be employed to enhance English lexical acquisition of art majors at college by means of suggestion of English songs?In order to answer these three questions,both quantitative and qualitative methods have been employed so as to arrange and analyze data information collected from questionnaires,interviews and tests.The comparisons of data can be strengthened by means of the separation of two groups including the experimental group and the control group.English songs will be applied into the experimental group.The whole pedagogical research will last 16 weeks in total.As it reveals throughout the research,English songs can prompt college English lexical teaching and learning.Students from the experimental group can admire graceful English songs,lessen anxiety and acquire words derived from lyrics of those songs out of class;it can furthermore improve students’ lexical competence of listening and speaking since English songs played in class are thought to be a type of language input.In the final part of the thesis,relevant pedagogical strategies have been illuminated by increasing language output of students,rationally taking advantage of authority,and designing class activities integrated with double-planeness and infantilization.It is assumed by the writer that this research can provide data for further study in the future. |
