"Seven Pieces on Inner-Mongolian Folksongs"is the piano work which has been adapted from the Mongolian folk songs of eastern Inner Mongolia by the composer Sang Tong(1923-2011).The seven songs,named as"The lamenting songs"、"Friendship"、"Homesickness"、"Love songs on grassland"、"Children’s dance"、"Sad memories"and"Dance music",add radiance and beauty to each other as a garland with seven different colors.They reflect Mongolian’s sincere affection and colorful life scene from different angles.Listener could be deeply moved by those feelings from Mongolian people:missing their old friends、home、lovers and the joy of dance.The piano work is the combination of Chinese and western,which not only retains the style characteristics of original folk songs,but also reinvest Mongolian folk songs with new color through the expression of piano music melody.In this paper,the author mainly analysised the source of subject、the piano’s creative techniques、playing techniques of each song and explored the Mongolian folk song’s characteristics embodied in the piano works as well as the reasons.Finally,the author explains the influence and significance of the piano works.As one of the representative works of Inner Mongolian folk songs,"Seven Pieces on Inner-Mongolian Folksongs"is also an influential work in the piano suite of Chinese folk songs.In 1957,it won the Bronze award in the sixth World Youth and Student Peace Festival.The author discovered that very few people in China analysised and researched on the national style characteristics of this work.Therefore,the author decided to research the"Seven Pieces on Inner-Mongolian Folksongs"basing on Mongolian culture background so that we can better understand and pass on the unique national culture of the Mongol nationality.
